Hybrid Repairs & Servicing
A hybrid needs servicing for both its petrol or diesel engine and its electric system, and it takes the right training to look after both. All Trans Autos service and repair full hybrids, mild hybrids, and plug-in hybrids of most makes, with technicians qualified to IMI Level 4 for high-voltage systems.
Hybrids combine an engine with an electric motor and a high-voltage battery, and each needs attention. On the engine side, a hybrid service covers the same essentials as any car, including oil and filters, spark plugs where due, and coolant. On the electric side, we check the high-voltage system and its cooling, which on some models includes a battery cooling fan and air filter that can clog with dust.
We carry out servicing in line with your manufacturer’s schedule and update the online service record, so your warranty paperwork stays in order.
Each has its own servicing needs, and we’ll follow the schedule for your specific model.
Faults like these need proper diagnosis, and our dealer-level equipment reads both the engine and hybrid systems. We’ll explain what we’ve found and share photos where they help, before any repair goes ahead.
Like electric vehicles, hybrids use regenerative braking, so the friction brakes see less use and can corrode or seize. We check them at every service.
On plug-in hybrids driven mostly on electric power, the engine may barely run. The oil still ages, though, so keeping to the time-based service interval is important even when the mileage is low.
Hybrids carry high-voltage systems that can be dangerous without the right knowledge. IMI Level 4 is the highest level of IMI electric vehicle qualification, covering diagnosis and repair of live high-voltage components. It means we can handle hybrid work that goes well beyond routine servicing.
Parts are of original equipment quality, or genuine manufacturer parts where the vehicle requires them. They’re covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, and our labour is guaranteed for 12 months.
The price depends on your vehicle and what its schedule requires at that stage. We’ll confirm the cost when you book, and we’ll always ask before carrying out any additional work.
Not necessarily more often, but the service covers more, because both the engine and the hybrid system need checking.
Yes. Block Exemption rules let you use an independent garage during the warranty period, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses parts of matching quality.
Hybrid high-voltage systems should only be worked on by trained technicians. Our team holds IMI Level 4, which covers live high-voltage work.
